Simmons iron bed. This bed has the simmons logo. Simmons, used these
small custom-made miniature beds in their 75 SERVICE CENTRES across Canada
during the 1920's to circumvent the steel shortages prevelant at the time.
You actually purchased a bed and mattress using these "samples"
There are few of these still existing. Simmons has a few in their museum,
many others have been painted over, forever losing the copyrighted logo
indicating their origin.
Own an exciting part of Canadian History.
The use of these SERVICE CENTRES, and the part these miniature beds played
in Simmons's comback from a failing company back to success is a great
story.
alas, we have not been able to convince Simmons to make a custom matress
for our bed... yet.
